IPv4 and IPv6 are address formats. Both identify connections, but IPv6 provides a much larger space and can expose different paths.
Example: 203.0.113.10. Very common and often shared through NAT.
Example: 2001:db8::10. Much larger space and different exposure.
A connection can publish IPv4 and IPv6 at the same time.
Some networks have correct IPv4 firewalling but different IPv6 rules. That is why both paths are worth checking.
IPv6 is not less secure by design, but careless configuration can leave services reachable without the administrator noticing.
If your device uses both protocols, compare visible IP, provider, DNS and ports to understand full exposure.
